LOL funny guy. I’ve opened various pcs without antistatic stuff including laptops and they never broke. My 386 dx4 was opened several times and it still works after 20 years.

In sum, static electricity doesn’t fuck up your pc as much as you think. Neither do magnets fuck up disks easily (unless you have a huge magnet stuck in your disk drive)

I found the issues, there was a faulty cable. But now more problems, I get a Warning message saying my “ATI control panel has failed to initialize.”

I looked in my display settings and it does not show any ATI drivers I have installed or what kind of video chip set it is.

I took pictures of the warning message and display info if you’d like me to link them for you.

    I’m stumped.

Sounds like an incompatibility, or you didn’t install the hardware correctly, take it apart and but it back together making sure the jobs done right. If the problem remains then either the screen or mobo is DOA.

Hello, I purchased a new mobo and screen for my VGN-S170. When powering up the HD kicks on but the screen is blank and the video chip’s fan does not turn on. How can I get my laptop running?

    2.0 Pentium M Dothan 760
    MBX-109 w/ ATI 9700
