@jumpingjas If its not lasting long I would get some good BGA flux and make sure you get a good flow. Copper helps too.
Good luck, and if you run into issues your welcome to send it to us.

@zlippy The new board might also have the video issue; or you can have a pull in the LCD ribbon. (common) Sometimes the inverters go too. You would have to test each of these components, You have to keep in mind even if you order an other board HP never changed the design flaw on them.
Your always welcome to send it to us and we can fix it for you,
All the best,
-Pete

I have HP Dv2600 and it stopped display after couple of blinks. It was due to overheating. I took it to some technician and he told me that the video controller died permanently and only way is to replace the mother board… since then i kept the lappy aside in cubboard.
I am just wondering if the above shown process will help me in any way…? Or should I replace the motherboard? plz suggest…
Andre
I thought my motherboard had dies, so I ordered a new one and got it to the point of testing (around 12 min) and I plug in the battery like you did, everything is connected. The lights fire up and the fan starts for a second then stops and nothing else happens. The fan turns off and all the lights remain on but nothing is going on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Julia
thanks for the vid, it worked for me too on a pavilion tx2000 with the same gpu problem. i tried with a powerfull light bulb, a hairdryer and this one with the small welding torch is the only one that worked for me
. i will post a video reply with my attempt as soon as i finish editing it
